Welcoming the stranger missional community

We are an intentional community of Christians with a desire to further Christ’s kingdom through actively loving our neighbors, specifically through relationships with and advocacy for refugees and immigrants.

As followers of the way of Christ, we strive to be active agents of God’s justice and faithful witnesses of his love.  We believe that all people are created in the image of God with inherent dignity (Gen. 1:26). Our scriptural call to love our neighbors (Matt. 22:34-40) extends to everyone, especially the vulnerable and marginalized (Deut. 10:18, Matt. 25:31-46, James 1:27). Furthermore, God calls us to welcome the stranger (Lev. 19:34, Heb. 13:1) and to “be not afraid” (Joshua 1:9, Isaiah 41:10, Romans 8:38-39). In the midst of uncertainty in US immigration policy and the largest refugee crisis of our time, we have a responsibility to live out our faith.

Community is integral to pursuing our biblical mandate of furthering Christ’s Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. Therefore, as a group, we commit to:

  • learning together about refugee and immigration issues - locally, nationally and globally;

  • praying for refugees and immigrants both near and far;

  • nurturing relationships and walking alongside refugees and immigrants;

  • amplifying the voices of refugees and immigrants; and

  • spreading the message of welcome to the stranger and extending radical hospitality.

We believe these are acts of faithful worship.

We meet the third Monday of every month at varying locations. For more information contact Claire - clrmcwll@gmail.com

anti-racism missional community

Loop Church's Anti-Racism Group was formed with the goal of brainstorming, organizing, and implementing creative actions to fight white supremacist ideology in the contexts in which we as individuals and a group have power. We are motivated by our belief that all human beings are created in the image of God and by that same God's call to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. We believe that call extends into the pursuit of justice and have chosen to focus our efforts on working to dismantle racism wherever we can.

We meet the second Thursday of every month at varying locations. For more information contact Anne - fenannema@gmail.com
